A few years ago, New Zealand’s Prime Minister, John Key, announced a project to create a National Cycleway. Jump

on your bike at the top of New Zealand and make your way to the bottom.

Progress has been slow and steady and a number of cycle ways have now opened up, offering the chance to explore the country off the road and amongst some beautiful scenery.

The New Zealand Cycle Trail website has up to date information on sections of the trail that have opened and great detail of the gradient, difficulty and length along with photos and videos to provide you with a taste of what you will see.

So park up your car and jump on a bike. Our top recommendations are the cycle trails in the Otago region, around Queenstown, Clutha and Roxburgh. The Central Otago Rail Trail is an easy 3-4 day ride through the rugged, high country of Central Otago.
